The Licensing &Approvals’ Corporate Licensing Team currently has one vacant Senior Project Officer position to be dedicated to the program of work until 30 June 2026. The Irrigation Corporations Regulatory Improvement Program (ICRIP) is the first priority and a Priority Area 1 for the Water Operations 2025 Business Plan to deliver.
The Senior Project Officer manages and coordinates the development, implementation and evaluation of complex projects to achieve project outcomes and support the achievement of continuous improvement relating to water licensing and approval objectives.
The program will cover substantial risk components to address immediately, including: the regulatory gaps, the legacy licensing matters; review of updating of ICs Operating Licences including a condition that ICs must be a member of a dispute resolution organisation and managing the onboarding of the preferred dispute resolution organisation.
Key challenges of the role include:
- Managing consultations and negotiations with diverse stakeholders, within agreed timelines, given their varying expectations, viewpoints and interests
- Understanding and appreciating the complexities of water management activities and the links to water regulation.
- Achieving project deadlines and milestones to the required standards and within budget, given the need to simultaneously coordinate and deliver multiple projects which are often complex and interconnected.
About You

Knowledge & Experience
- Robust understanding of the NSW water legislation, Commonwealth Basin Plan 2012 and the Murray Darling Basin Plan.
- Understanding of and experience in government relations.
Essential Requirements
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or relevant experience in Natural Resource Management.
- Occasional intra-state travel.
- Current NSW driver’s licence.
