About the role
The Wildlife Program and Regulation Unit within National Parks and Wildlife Service is seeking a Manager to implement coordinated and consistent wildlife management programs throughout the state, balancing nature conservation objectives with damage mitigation and animal welfare objectives of external stakeholders.
As the Manager, Wildlife Programs and Regulation you will lead a geographically dispersed team while being accountable for supporting the coordinated delivery of state-wide and high-quality programs.
You will liaise and consult with the Director, Conservation Programs on issues that are controversial, sensitive, may have adverse ramifications or cause significant variations to projects and programs.
About you
To be successful in the role, you will have:
- Extensive experience in leading the development and delivery of innovative, best practice conservation programs in a protected area or similar context.
- Experience in exercising authority and making independent decisions, whilst ensuring collaboration with stakeholders to gather a diverse range of information and views prior to making decisions
- Detailed understanding of legislative and policy frameworks for conservation of biodiversity and regulation of wildlife.
