- Salary ranges from $129,464 to $142,665 + super
Our team is seeking a strategic thinker with deep expertise in land administration or land transactions.
The role
As the Senior Policy and Project Officer, you will drive strategic policy development and deliver high-level research and analysis to support informed decision-making on land and natural resource management across NSW. Lead coordination and review of complex projects and initiatives that shape sustainable use of the state's environmental assets.
What you might be doing:
- The implementation of Aboriginal Land Agreements, including identification and engagement of the survey team
- Evaluation of potential negotiations with Aboriginal Land Councils
- Negotiating agreements with Aboriginal Land Councils
- Resolution or transfer of leases, licenses or permits when vesting crown land with Aboriginal Land Councils
- Bespoke brief writing and producing negotiation related project reports
- Engagement with a variety of interested stakeholders to understand the constraints and opportunities on Crown land;
- Land tenure and status searches using CLID, Crownview, Gazette warehouse, Historic Lands Record Viewer and Crowntracker
What We’re Looking For
- Proven expertise in policy lifecycle management, including development, implementation, and review
- Strong ability to interpret complex legislation and navigate policy processes
- Solid understanding of land and natural resource issues within relevant legislative frameworks
- Skilled in translating complex information into clear, actionable advice.
- Confident in engaging with senior stakeholders and navigating government processes.
- A natural collaborator who thrives in dynamic, multidisciplinary teams.
