The role
As Senior Media and Communications Advisor at Bradfield Development Authority, your focus will be to create clear, strategic media and communications content that builds public trust and supports NSW Government priorities. You’ll be the go-to person for senior leaders and Minister’s Offices, helping them make informed decisions and ensuring our messaging is consistent, accurate, and engaging—whether it’s a media release, a social post, or a campaign asset.
You’ll need to thrive under pressure, quickly spot emerging issues, and turn complex information into compelling, consistent messages. Building strong relationships and responding fast to media challenges are key to keeping the BDA’s reputation strong and positive. Your strength in turning complex ideas into clear, engaging messages—and your ability to work seamlessly with colleagues and external partners—will be essential for success in this role.
This role is a strong storytelling role that supports the Bradfield City and Advanced Manufacturing Readiness Facility (AMRF) narrative across all platforms, including media, social media, and external newsletters.

Senior Media and Communications Advisor
What you will bring to the role
- Tertiary qualifications in media, journalism or similar; or equivalent experience.
- Understanding of current affairs, contentious issues management, and end-to-end strategic communications campaign delivery.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively convey ideas and translate information into engaging messages
- Strong problem-solving abilities to navigate complex challenges and adapt to evolving situations.
- Creativity and innovation to bring fresh ideas and approaches to problem-solving
- Capable of driving outcomes while effectively involving stakeholders throughout the process, fostering collaboration and buy-in.
- Experience developing storytelling content across channels would be an advantage.
What is an essential requirement:
- Ability to be on call as required outside of normal working hours.
