DCCEEW is seeking a visionary leader to champion health, safety, and wellbeing across a diverse and dynamic workforce.

As Director – Health, Safety and Wellbeing, you’ll lead strategic initiatives that embed wellbeing into the fabric of our organisation. You’ll design and implement frameworks that promote physical and psychological safety, drive early intervention, and support effective injury management and return-to-work outcomes.

This is your opportunity to influence culture, shape policy, and deliver real change in a department that values innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of department-wide health, safety and wellbeing strategies
  • Provide expert advice to senior executives and stakeholders across government
  • Oversee injury management, workplace adjustment, and resilience programs
  • Monitor emerging risks and ensure compliance with WHS legislation
  • Build high-performing teams and foster a culture of care and accountability

 

About You

You will have tertiary qualifications in WHS or a related discipline, as well as proven experience leading safety and wellbeing functions in complex environments. To be successful you will need a deep knowledge of WHS legislation and behavioural change strategies. Courage, resilience, and the ability to lead through ambiguity and reform are key.
