About the Role 

National Parks and Wildlife Service has a great opportunity for an Administrative Support Officer to work as part of the team, supporting our work with Aboriginal communities to contribute to the conservation of the natural environment and Aboriginal heritage across the North Coast region.

 

This is an Aboriginal Identified role where Aboriginal identity, cultural knowledge or connections are a genuine aspect of the role. Positions are specifically noted under the provisions of the NSW Anti-discrimination Act (1977).

 

This crucial role provides a wide range of administrative support services, in particular oversight of key financial and records management, correspondence, meeting and event coordination, and ensuring compliance with our Indigenous Land Use Agreement (ILUA) administration and reporting requirements. This position is a key role, integral to the smooth running of the Native Title and Aboriginal Partnerships programs and provision of quality services to multiple Native Title holder groups across the North Coast region.

 

About You 

You’re a highly organised and motivated individual who thrives in a collaborative, busy and diverse setting. You thrive on your attention to detail, have the ability to multi-task and have excellent communication skills. You enjoy working collaboratively with multi-skilled staff, external stakeholders and Aboriginal groups to better understand the various community needs to ensure delivery of timely information and support when needed. You have previous experience in similar roles, with knowledge and experience with maintaining databases and financial systems, as well as experience in Microsoft applications including Microsoft Teams.

  

Essential requirements 

This is an Identified role under Section 14d of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 and as such Aboriginality is an essential requirement of the role.

 

Aboriginal identified positions are developed where Aboriginal identity, cultural knowledge or connections are a genuine aspect of the role. Positions are specifically noted under the provisions of the NSW Anti-discrimination Act (1977) for Aboriginal people who meet the following criteria:

  • is of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent, and
  • identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person, and
  • is accepted as such by the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community.
  • Experience in administration including the use of computer based systems such as word processing, spreadsheet and records management systems.
  • Knowledge of financial and human resource management procedures, policies and practices and contract administration.
  • Current Driver’s license
