About the Opportunity

Our EnergyCo NSW Finance and Operations team is currently seeking to appoint a Manager Financial Accounting to support the Chief Financial Officer to lead and manage EnergyCo’s financial accounting processes throughout the year including early close and full year financial statement preparation.

In the realm of accounting, this is a fast paced and agile role that provides both challenges and opportunities. The role is very much evolving and as such, you will be able to work on interesting projects and initiatives to get the accounting right! This role is a trusted advisor to EnergyCo’s CFO and the leadership team and upholds ethical and professional standards and NSW public sector values as well as having a critical function in ensuring compliance with all financial reporting requirements, including NSW Treasury mandates.

About You

Do you have attention to detail, planning skills and outstanding organisational skills? Great! This is a technical accounting role so this could be your next opportunity…

To be successful in this role you will be a stand out communicator as you will be required to present to the senior leadership team, the audit and risk committee and the board on accounting matters and in doing this, you will be required to convert technical accounting terms into “non finance speak” that is easily digestible. A lot of the time accounting can be a little repetitive… this is NOT THAT. As no two days are truly the same, we are seeking someone who is able to be agile and quick thinking in their role.

You will possess knowledge of the application of the NSW Government Sector finance legislation,

directions and policies, and Australian Accounting Standards.  You will also be able to demonstrate your success in delivering financial reports and budgets in an operational and project environment, cashflow management within limited funding envelopes, project performance reporting and forecasting functions.
