  • Temporary opportunity to March 2026 with possibility of extension
  • Full-time role - 35 hours per week + FlexTime 
  • Newcastle location preferred; however, any NSW office location will be considered for the right candidate - regional location/hybrid working supported
  • Salary ranges from $93,295.00 to $102,941.00 + super + leave loading

 

Our Strategic Finance team is currently seeking to appoint an Associate Strategic Finance Officer to join the Natural Resources Access Regulator (NRAR), to undertake analysis, financial reporting and improvement initiatives, to support the development and delivery of water compliance outcomes for the people and communities of NSW.  

The Associate Strategic Finance Officer will assist the finance team to complete tasks and implement plans. You will demonstrate a strong attention to detail and commitment to customer service and provide excellent support to our key stakeholders.  You will play a pivotal role in the month-end and reconciliation process and provide budget and forecasting support to deliver outcomes for NRAR’s diverse teams and branches.

 

About You

Our ideal candidate will hold the following key knowledge, experience and skills;

  • Relevant experience and/or tertiary qualification in accounting, finance, or commerce
  • Knowledge and understanding of the application of the Government Sector Finance Act 2018, Treasurer's Directions and Australian Accounting Standards and relevant Government policies
  • Good knowledge of MS Excel and other MS products and reporting tools
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment

The Natural Resources Access Regulator (NRAR) Act 2017 enacted by the NSW Parliament in November 2017 provides for the establishment of a new independent water regulator in NSW focused on establishing best practice water regulation underpinned by ethics, good governance and stakeholder engagement to deliver effective and reliable water regulation for the people of NSW.

NRAR enforces the NSW water laws and offers guidance and education to help water users comply. We strive to be an efficient and effective regulator that celebrates and reflects the diversity of the community we serve. Working with NRAR provides a chance to make sure water is used lawfully so that all communities and the environment get a fair share.

We acknowledge the ongoing custodial responsibilities of the Aboriginal peoples of NSW to care for Country and water and are committed to establishing meaningful partnerships with Aboriginal peoples in the management of the environment.
