Use your power systems engineering expertise to contribute to reshaping the NSW electricity system to deliver clean and reliable energy with once in a generation energy transition projects

 

  • 3 x Permanent, full time (35 hours per week) with FlexTime Options
  • Sydney-based, hybrid working from home and office supported model (office and remote)
  • Salary from $171,628.00 to $ 194,424.00 plus super and leave loading

 

EnergyCo NSW is spearheading the transition to renewable energy to deliver clean electricity to the people of NSW as coal-fired power stations near closure.


About the Opportunity

Our EnergyCo NSW Technical Advisory Services team is currently seeking to appoint three Principal Engineer- Power Systems specialist roles that makes creative, technical and commercial contributions and manages a team of power system analysis engineers to provide guidance and support to ensure successful execution of power system modelling and analysis tasks.

These specialist roles are responsible for overseeing external consultancy relationships by defining the power system analysis scope, conducting peer reviews and ensuring alignment with NSW Electricity Infrastructure Roadmap and Network Infrastructure Strategy. Collaboration with key stakeholders, such as AEMO and network service providers, is crucial in joint planning efforts to integrate Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) infrastructure effectively and deliver a secure and reliability energy supply.

 

About You

You are a technical expert with a track record in power system planning and analysis, ideally within the transmission, distribution and renewable energy space. You bring:

  • Strategic Vision and Technical Expertise: Proven 6+ years’ experience developing and implementing solutions that are strategically aligned with energy transition, enhance system security and optimise investment
  • Collaborative Leadership: Strong interpersonal skills to effectively partner with stakeholders and ensure optimal infrastructure solutions from technical feasibility to commercial viability
  • Team Management: Skilled in guiding a diverse team of engineers and consultants, delivering coordinated and effective technical solutions.

 

Key Knowledge and Experience

  • Postgraduate qualifications in electrical engineering or equivalent relevant experience
  • Extensive experience in power system and network planning and analysis.
  • Experience in technical advisory leadership roles with a keen understanding of policy and commercial factors impacting heavy infrastructure integration.
  • Extensive knowledge of technical complexities of integrating renewable energy within established electricity networks

Who we are?

The Energy Corporation of NSW (EnergyCo) is a statutory corporation established under the Energy and Utilities Administration Act 1987 and governed by its Board, appointed by the Minister for Energy.  EnergyCo is a Staff Agency employing all EnergyCo staff and is an agency related to the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW).

EnergyCo plays a pivotal role in the NSW Government’s Electricity Infrastructure Roadmap, which aims to transform the state’s electricity system into one that is cheap, clean, and reliable. As Infrastructure Planner under the Electricity Infrastructure Investment Act 2020, EnergyCo is responsible for leading the delivery of the State’s first five Renewable Energy Zones (REZs) and the first two priority transmission infrastructure projects (PTIPs), which are located in the Central-West Orana, New England, South West, Hunter-Central Coast, and Illawarra regions. We work closely with communities, investors, and industry to investigate, plan, recommend and coordinate generation, storage and network infrastructure projects.
