  • Two temporary 4 year full-time roles at 35 hours per week plus Flextime
  • Sydney, Newcastle or NSW location by negotiation
  • Hybrid working from home and office supported
  • Salary from $161,614 to $179,232 plus super and leave loading

 

EnergyCo NSW is spearheading the transition to renewable energy to deliver clean electricity to the people of NSW as coal-fired power stations near closure.


About the Opportunity

EnergyCo’s Project Interface and Strategic Coordination Branch is currently seeking to appoint two Strategic Delivery Managers to lead the coordinated development and delivery of complex, dynamic and high-profile programs and projects for the development of built form, social, economic and environmental infrastructure. These programs and projects are essential for delivering the NSW Government Electricity Infrastructure Roadmap and supporting EnergyCo’s role as Infrastructure Planner of the declared Renewable Energy Zones.

The Project Interface and Strategic Coordination branch collaborates closely with various project and corporate branches of EnergyCo as well as a diverse range of relevant government agencies to drive the scoping, coordination and delivery of state-wide enabling infrastructure and related programs across roads and transport, ports capacity and infrastructure, workforce accommodation, telecommunications, water and waste management and other logistic and supply chains.

These opportunities are in two different teams within the Project Interface and Strategic Coordination Branch. The individual roles are:

  • Strategic Delivery Manager – Strategic Coordination and Interface Management. The primary responsibilities of this role are to:
    • Drive the development of high-quality strategic advice that shapes the direction of EnergyCo's interactions with cross-government agencies and influences key project outcomes.
    • Cultivate robust, trusted relationships with senior stakeholders across various sectors, ensuring seamless collaboration and communication.
    • Lead engagement and consultation initiatives to strategically align stakeholder priorities and foster consensus on critical projects.
    • Oversee comprehensive program governance frameworks and implement proactive risk management strategies.
    • Identify and champion opportunities for optimising project development and execution.
    • Manage and resolve emerging issues with agility and foresight, ensuring minimal disruption to project timelines and objectives.
  • Strategic Delivery Manager – Priority Projects. The primary responsibilities of this role are to:
    • Strategically oversee the management and delivery of major infrastructure projects
    • Foster collaboration among multidisciplinary teams within EnergyCo and across government.
    • Lead procurement processes, negotiations, and approvals at the executive level, ensuring that strategic objectives are met and stakeholder interests are safeguarded.
    • Drive evidence-based decision-making by guiding and deeply analysing comprehensive feasibility studies, due diligence, technical assessments, and cost-benefit analyses to inform strategic outcomes.
    • Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and challenges and deliver strategic advice to senior management.
    • Prepare and present high-level project reports and documentation which articulate project status, critical issues, and strategic recommendations.

 

About You

To be successful in the role, you will have extensive experience in managing a portfolio of complex, dynamic and high-profile programs/projects with significant impacts for the organisation's objectives. Your track record reflects a commitment to driving interconnected projects to successful completion while consistently achieving high-quality standards.

As a dynamic leader, you have exceptional communication and interpersonal skills that enhance your ability to anticipate and manage stakeholder needs and expectations. You excel at collaboratively navigating conflicts among competing priorities and skilfully influencing decision-makers to drive action and achieve outcomes that align with EnergyCo’s ambitious vision for the State’s energy transition.

You are adept at steering program governance, strategically identifying and managing risks, and engaging with stakeholders to align portfolio interdependencies and program deliverables. You are known for your ability to collect, analyse and synthesize information from various sources to deliver timely strategic advice to executive-level stakeholders on a range of nuanced issues.

As a self-motivated professional, you consistently deliver with confidence and composure under time constraints, while upholding confidentiality and demonstrating diplomacy in all interactions. You have experience managing a multi-faceted team and cultivating a collaborative, solutions-oriented team environment.

 

Essential Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline or relevant equivalent experience.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement systems and processes to underpin high quality program delivery.
  • Ability to plan and transition teams through change initiatives and evaluate progress and outcomes to inform future delivery.

Who we are?

The Energy Corporation of NSW (EnergyCo) is a statutory corporation established under the Energy and Utilities Administration Act 1987 and governed by its Board, appointed by the Minister for Energy.  EnergyCo is a Staff Agency employing all EnergyCo staff and is an agency related to the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW).

EnergyCo plays a pivotal role in the NSW Government’s Electricity Infrastructure Roadmap, which aims to transform the state’s electricity system into one that is cheap, clean, and reliable. As Infrastructure Planner under the Electricity Infrastructure Investment Act 2020, EnergyCo is responsible for leading the delivery of the State’s first five Renewable Energy Zones (REZs) and the first two priority transmission infrastructure projects (PTIPs), which are located in the Central-West Orana, New England, South West, Hunter-Central Coast, and Illawarra regions. We work closely with communities, investors, and industry to investigate, plan, recommend and coordinate generation, storage and network infrastructure projects.
