The role
Be part of shaping the future of Sydney’s most iconic urban parklands! As Manager Planning and Urban Design, you’ll lead the charge in creating strategic plans and delivering innovative urban design solutions for Greater Sydney Parklands. From preparing impactful Plans of Management to advising on complex planning matters, this role offers the chance to influence some of the city’s most cherished green spaces.

What you will bring to the role
You are a dynamic professional with a strong background in strategic planning, particularly in relation to open space. You possess excellent project management skills, enabling you to lead the development and renewal of Plans of Management for Greater Sydney Parklands. Your ability to interpret legislation and environmental planning instruments is a key asset as you provide evidence-based advice to guide our vision for Greater Sydney's open space and parklands. Your strong stakeholder engagement and management expertise will help maintain positive relationships with the community, interest groups, stakeholders, and colleagues to drive strategic planning and urban design projects to success.
Your experience in procuring and managing consultants, working within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary design-led team, and your understanding of the workings of government make you an ideal candidate for this role. A background or experience in urban design is highly regarded as is graphic skills, including proficiency with the Adobe Creative Suite.
Your ability to blend technical expertise with creativity, collaboration, and project leadership will set you apart in delivering innovative outcomes for Sydney’s iconic parklands.
What is an essential requirement:
- Tertiary qualifications in Urban Planning or related discipline and/or equivalent relevant industry experience
- Current Australian driver’s license and ability to travel to and attend work at any site within the GSP portfolio
- Ability to work outside of normal working hours and on weekends if required
