- Compliance and Regulation Officer (Environment Officer Class 8)
- Ongoing full-time (35 hours per week) opportunity,
- Office location is Wollongong or Queanbeyan - regional location encouraged/Hybrid working supported
- Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $112,444 to $126,861+ super
We are currently seeking an experienced Investigator to join our Team. The South East Compliance and Regulation Team is responsible for regulating native vegetation on rural land, biodiversity, Aboriginal cultural heritage and the professional Kangaroo harvesting program. If successful in your applicable for this position, you have the responsibility to effectively investigate crimes against some of the highest value biodiversity and cultural heritage assets in New South Wales.
Your day-to-day duties will include:
* Gathering evidence
* Conducting records of interview with suspects and witnesses
* Undertaking site inspections in remote locations
* Desktop assessments of new cases, including spatial assessments and data analysis
* Drafting and issuing statutory notices
* Engaging with internal and external stakeholders with competing priorities
* Working with experts in the field and in the office.
About You

Key knowledge and experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary operational and strategic requirements for undertaking complex compliance programs, audits and investigations.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in implementing compliance and regulation in a government or non-government setting.
Essential requirements
- Degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience.
- Hold ISO 19011 auditor certification or similar or have capacity to obtain such certification within 3 months of commencement in this role.
- Current NSW Class C Drivers Licence.
- Criminal History Check given the regulatory and compliance activities conducted.
