About the role

National Parks and Wildlife Service has a unique opportunity for a Senior Aviation Officer to join the passionate Fire and Incident Operations Branch with the Aviation Unit.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to coordinate fire and incident aviation resources across New South Wales. The successful candidate will manage aviation contracts, oversee complex programs, and communicate policy across state and national agencies. You will be responsible for developing strategic aviation policies, introducing innovative technologies, and ensuring effective communication between various stakeholders.

This is a pivotal position with a focus on maintaining high standards, providing expert advice, and ensuring the smooth operation of aviation services for fire and incident management.

 

About you

We are looking for a dynamic and experienced professional with a strong background in aviation management and a deep understanding of fire and incident operations.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in managing complex programs and contracts, as well as coordinating and communicating aviation policies and procedures. You will have a proven ability to provide strategic advice, work collaboratively across agencies, and drive innovation in aviation systems and technology.

Strong leadership skills, along with the ability to advocate effectively on behalf of the Department, are essential. If you are someone who thrives in a fast-paced, strategic environment and has a passion for ensuring effective air operations, we would love to hear from you. 

 

Essential requirements

  • Sound understanding of aircraft coordination and management, including appropriate operational applications and limitations of aviation resources, and fire and incident management operations.
  • Experience in managing contracts and complex projects, strategic business planning, delivering and evaluating complex programs and policy development.
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant aviation legislation, and compliance, together with a sound understanding of the mechanics of government, and a demonstrated ability to interpret and apply legislation.
