The role

In this role, you'll lead the development and delivery of our finance capability program, focusing on enhancing financial and business skills across the department. You'll be responsible for creating a robust capability framework, managing talent pipelines, and driving finance transformation through process optimization and continuous improvement.

You'll face the challenge of managing financial information systems and business process projects with minimal disruption. Your responsibilities will include delivering training and support materials, leading finance communities of practice, and ensuring our systems, people, and processes support best practice financial management. Your efforts will help uplift the overall quality of expertise and improve finance-related outcomes aligned with accounting policies and standards

What you will bring to the role

  • Expertise in Financial Capability Development: You will develop and deliver a finance capability framework, enhancing the quality of information, decision-making, and business outcomes.
  • Leadership across the Finance Community: You will lead the finance community of practice across the DPHI network and enable skill enhancement and finance capability uplift across the organisation.
  • Leadership in Finance Transformation: You will lead finance transformation initiatives, optimizing processes and leveraging emerging technologies to support best practices in financial management.
  • Strategic Advisory and Training Skills: You will coordinate and manage learning and training packages, providing expert advice on financial management and accounting practices, and business systems.

What is an essential requirement:

  • Qualifications in a financial, accounting, or technology discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Solid working knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and contemporary financial management and audit practices, with the ability to apply these in developing a financial information management system.
