Working to protect the state’s environment and heritage
Play a vital role in managing a high priority ecological monitoring and restoration project team to drive improved ecological, cultural and community outcomes within the parks estate.
About the role
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual with a passion for ecological monitoring and restoration, community engagement and team leadership. Working closely with the Manager West Branch Programs, you’ll be relied upon to lead the dynamic Ecological Outcomes Team. You will manage four positions including 3 x Ecological Project Officers and 1 x Indigenous Partnerships Facilitator.
The team you manage has will have responsibility for engaging with various stakeholders and ensuring the successful delivery of ecological monitoring, water delivery and cultural heritage projects including The Living Murray Program, Ecological Thinning Trials and Wetland Rehabilitation. This will include input into the delivery of environmental water to key ecological and cultural sites, and delivering monitoring programs targeted at guiding the adaptive management of park values including wetlands, threatened species and cultural heritage. You’ll also work closely with the Indigenous Partnerships Facilitator and actively engage with Traditional Owners on Country to develop land and water management practices which support the health of Country.
About You
This role is suited to a team leader with a strong track record in ecological systems management, including an openness to innovation and scientific inquiry. You’ll need advanced demonstrated project management skills, including experience in budget, procurement, and contract management and comfortable leading a team and collaborating with a diverse range of stakeholders, including other government agencies, scientists, landholders and Aboriginal community organisations. Your research, analysis and problem-solving skills will aid you in communicating trends and emerging issues that you identify throughout key projects.
Essential Role Requirements
- Appropriate tertiary qualifications or demonstrated equivalent, relevant professional experience.
- Project management skills and experience with an understanding of contemporary best practice in procurement, tendering and contract preparation, in managing project teams, consultants and contractors, and in applying environmental safety and risk management policies and systems.
- Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing and reviewing strategic plans, policies and programs, and in providing strategic and operational advice and recommendations to senior management.
