  • Salary relative to experience and ranges from $120,701 to $134,460 + Super

 

The Science & Insights branch is currently seeking to appoint a Senior Scientist Climate & Atmospheric.

Carry out air quality research, modelling and forecasting using chemical transport models and other available tools. Develop enhanced air quality forecasting capability at CAS, provide advanced technical and scientific advice, and analytical support to influence decisions on the major air quality challenges facing the state.

 

About You

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • Experience in developing and delivering rigorous science projects in atmospheric science.
  • Expertise and advance knowledge in physical and chemical atmospheric science and air quality modelling including forecasting, predictions, data validation and interpretation.
  • Experience using complex chemical transport models (WRF-Chem, WRF-CMAQ) and advanced skills in scientific programming languages such as R, python or another modern computer language.
  • Expertise and knowledge to develop air emissions inventory and to ensure the work is completed and delivered.
  • Extensive experience in visualisation, presenting, and publishing statistical,/geographic data for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Scientific qualifications, well-developed knowledge and demonstrated experience of one or more of the following: meteorology; atmospheric physics; atmospheric chemistry; airshed modelling.
