Our People and Culture team is growing! We are seeking an experienced Senior People Partner to join our high-performing and collaborative team, supporting a diverse and engaged client group within the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment, and Water (DCCEEW). About the Role

As a Senior People Partner, you will provide strategic and operational HR support, guiding leaders through complex workforce challenges and driving positive cultural and organisational change. You will be a trusted advisor to your clients, supporting them in navigating HR complexities, and fostering an inclusive and high-performing work environment.

Your role will encompass (but not be limited to):

  • Case management – Providing expert guidance on complex employee relations matters, including performance management, workplace investigations, and industrial relations.
  • Leadership and change management – Coaching and advising leaders to build capability, drive change initiatives, and foster a culture of collaboration and excellence.
  • Workforce strategy and planning – Partnering with senior stakeholders to develop and implement workforce strategies that align with organisational goals.
  • Legislation and policy interpretation – Ensuring compliance with relevant HR policies, awards, and employment legislation, particularly within the Government Sector Employment Act (GSE).

About You

We are looking for an experienced and highly capable HR professional with a broad skill set. You thrive in a fast-paced and diverse environment where no two meetings are the same – having a passion for delivering innovative and pragmatic HR solutions is a must!

To succeed in this role, you will bring:

  • A strong HR generalist background, with experience in case management, employee relations, and workforce strategy.
  • Proven experience influencing and coaching senior leaders, supporting them in managing complex people matters and driving organisational change.
  • A strong grasp of employment legislation and industrial frameworks, with the ability to interpret and apply awards, agreements, and HR policies effectively.
  • Exceptional relationship management skills, with the ability to build trust, credibility, and strong partnerships with stakeholders.
  • Experience in managing HR projects and initiatives, ensuring they are delivered successfully within a complex and evolving organisation.

 

Essential Requirements

  • High level knowledge of human resources legislation, policies, practices and strategies.
  • Experience in implementing client focused human resource strategies, programs and services.
  • Demonstrated experience in the use of human resources management information systems.
