About us
Placemaking NSW is responsible for managing and caring for some of Sydney’s most iconic harbourside venues and locations, including The Rocks, Barangaroo, Darling Harbour and White Bay Power Station. We also lead the planning and delivery of the Bays West Urban Renewal Precinct, a state significant project that will bring new homes, jobs, and public spaces to 77 hectares of government-owned land just 2 kilometres from Sydney's CBD.
The role
This role is all about making connections and driving revenue through strategic partnerships, sponsorships, and licensing agreements. You'll be at the forefront of activating precincts, working with stakeholders, and identifying new business opportunities that align with the strategic vision. From securing high-value sponsorships to managing cooperative marketing initiatives, you'll play a key role in enhancing engagement and increasing commercial outcomes.
It’s a fast-paced and dynamic role that requires balancing commercial opportunities with community and agency interests in a competitive market. You’ll be working with government departments, event organizers, and key stakeholders to bring Sydney’s iconic spaces to life, ensuring they thrive as vibrant destinations while meeting business objectives.

What you will bring to the role
- Proven experience in business development, sponsorship, and partnership management, ideally within events, tourism, or cultural precincts.
- A strong track record in securing and managing commercial partnerships, sponsorships, and licensing agreements to drive revenue growth.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across government, corporate, and community sectors.
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities to balance commercial, community, and agency interests in a competitive environment.
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills to maximize value and deliver mutually beneficial outcomes.
- Experience in event sales, activation planning, and leveraging marketing opportunities to enhance venue visibility and engagement.
- A results-driven mindset with the ability to manage multiple priorities, track KPIs, and report on commercial performance.
