The role 

The Property Portfolio & Leasing and Finance Manager is the go-to expert for managing the NSW Department of Planning, Housing, and Infrastructure's property and leasing portfolio, and overseeing management of the Government Electricity & Gas contracts and acts on behalf of other entities such as DPIRD, DCCEEW, NPWS and EPA. In this role, you’ll be responsible for supporting property and leasing services in line with regulations and policies, making recommendations for current and future needs, and ensuring robust financial controls and budgeting.  

The Property Portfolio & Leasing and Finance Manager faces challenges such as maintaining an accurate property and lease portfolio, complying with diverse legislative requirements, and continuously improving management processes to provide value-added services. Your focus will be providing expert advice to stakeholders and senior management on property and leasing management issues, while balancing tight deadlines, limited resources, and competing priorities to meet the needs of business units across a diverse cluster.

What you will bring to the role 

  • Financial acumen to understand financial principles, analyse data, make informed budgeting decisions and recognise the economic impact of business decisions. 

  • Familiarity/experience in commercial leasing desirable but not essential.  

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively convey ideas and collaborate with team members and stakeholders.  

  • Proven leadership qualities, including the ability to motivate and inspire others to achieve shared goals.  

  • Strong problem-solving abilities to navigate complex challenges and adapt to evolving situations.    

  • High level administrative skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and competing demands.  

  • Outstanding stakeholder engagement skills, fostering strong relationships and ensuring alignment with diverse stakeholders to achieve outcomes.  

  • Flourishes in dynamic environments, demonstrating resilience and adaptability to effectively navigate change.  

 

Essential requirements of the role 

  • Australian Driver’s License required for occasional travel 

 

Key knowledge and experience

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Adobe, PowerPoint, Outlook)
