The role

As a Planning Officer, you will support the development of policy and processes that enable the efficient operation of the Housing Taskforce. This includes undertaking research, preparing reports and policy advice, and contributing to system improvements that streamline agency interactions with the planning system. Your work will ensure evidence-based decision-making, balancing multiple priorities and stakeholder needs.

As part of the Housing Taskforce, you will help drive whole-of-government action to expedite housing development applications and address impediments to post-consent requirements, ensuring the timely delivery of housing completions.

The Housing Taskforce

The Housing Taskforce is a multi-agency group within the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure, tasked with maximising housing completions by driving urgent, whole-of-government action to address housing supply and affordability issues.

This unique opportunity offers potential candidates the chance to work across government with government agencies and public authorities such as TfNSW, DCCEEW, Premiers Department and Treasury.

The position sits within the Housing Taskforce and will focus on working across industry to develop an understanding of the barriers to housing delivery, including matters raised in development consents, post consent approvals, and construction processes/requirements.

  • Strong analytical and research skills to support policy development.
