About us
Placemaking NSW is responsible for managing and caring for some of Sydney’s most iconic harbourside venues and locations, including The Rocks, Barangaroo, Darling Harbour and White Bay Power Station. We also lead the planning and delivery of the Bays West Urban Renewal Precinct, a state significant project that will bring new homes, jobs, and public spaces to 77 hectares of government-owned land just 2 kilometres from Sydney's CBD.
The role
Lead and grow First Nations cultural tour programs in some of Sydney’s most iconic locations—Barangaroo and The Rocks. In this leadership role, you’ll oversee engaging visitor experiences, ensuring First Nations culture is shared authentically and meaningfully with both tourists and locals. You'll manage a team, enhance program content, and streamline operations while fostering strong relationships with stakeholders.
This is a unique opportunity to promote and celebrate First Nations culture in high-profile locations, shaping public awareness and appreciation. With a mix of strategic oversight and hands-on engagement, you'll ensure these programs continue to thrive and evolve.

What you will bring to the role
- Strong knowledge and respect for First Nations culture, with the ability to share stories in a meaningful and engaging way.
- Experience in delivering culturally appropriate programs that celebrate and promote First Nations heritage.
- A natural storyteller who can connect with different audiences and make cultural experiences come to life.
- Highly organised and self-managed, able to juggle multiple tasks, prioritise effectively, and keep everything running smoothly.
- Great communication skills to work with community, visitors, and stakeholders while ensuring programs are delivered to a high standard.
What is an essential requirement:
- This is an Identified role under the Section 14d of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 and as such Aboriginality is an essential requirement of the role.
