Senior Communications Advisor - NSW Electricity Infrastructure Roadmap

Employment Type: Temporary full-time role up to 31 December 2026 with the possibility of extension or conversion to ongoing.
Work Location: Parramatta office location; other locations by separate negotiation
Classification / Grade / Band: Clerk Grade 9/10.
Hours Per Week: 35 hours, with flexible working options available
Remuneration: $125,693 - $138,510 per annum, plus superannuation
Additional Benefits: Salary packaging and Fitness Passport available.

About the Opportunity

The NSW Electricity Infrastructure Roadmap is the NSW Government’s plan to transform our energy system into one that is affordable, clean and reliable. The Roadmap coordinates investment into new renewable electricity generation, transmission, storage, and firming infrastructure to replace our ageing coal-fired power stations as they retire.

As the Senior Communications Advisor, you will play an integral part in this nation-leading reform. You will help unpack this fascinating, complex, and technical initiative into stories and campaigns that connect consumers to the benefits and opportunities of the Roadmap.

About Your New Role

As the Senior Communications Advisor, you will:

  • Develop and deliver audience-centric, integrated communications strategies and activities.
  • Create and deliver key messages and content production for Roadmap-wide communications.
  • Coordinate communications activities with teams from key Roadmap delivery partners.
  • Identify and lead research and external advice to support strategic communications priorities and objectives.
  • Lead and shape continuous improvement for communications activities, including monitoring analytics, reporting, and applying insights to improve effectiveness.

About You

You will thrive in this role if you:

  • Enjoy creating specialist audience-centric marketing and communication strategies.
  • Have a track record of producing multi-channel content and campaigns that inform and educate.
  • Are skilled at communicating complex concepts in consumer-friendly language.
  • Bring strong project management skills, including the ability to deliver agreed outcomes on time, on budget, and to quality standards.
  • Are energized by seeking out and fostering collaborative internal and external stakeholder relationships to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Enjoy a fast-paced, supportive work environment.

Essential Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in marketing, communications, or other relevant disciplines, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Prior experience working in energy, the environment or climate change, communications is desirable.

About the Team

The Roadmap Communications team operates within the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water. We develop and oversee the implementation of strategic communications and engagement with our key Roadmap delivery partners, including AEMO Services and the Energy Corporation of NSW (EnergyCo). We work across government agencies to coordinate consistent communications about the NSW energy transition.
