  • Salary relative to experience and ranges from $125,693 to $138,510 + super

 

Botanic Gardens of Sydney is the organisation working on behalf of the Royal Botanic Gardens and Domain Trust, which is established under the Royal Botanic Gardens and Domain Trust Act 1980. The organisation encompasses Australia’s premier botanical research institute, Sydney’s leading outdoor live entertainment and activation precinct, and three world-leading botanic gardens and international tourism destinations.

 

The role

The Venues Manager at the Royal Botanic Garden and Domain drives the strategic management of bookable venues, venue operations, visitor centres, activations, and site hire products across the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney and The Calyx. This role is pivotal in securing private and corporate functions, weddings, events, exhibitions, and activities, ensuring seamless operations and premium service delivery. By optimising venue performance, enhancing stakeholder relationships, and elevating customer experiences, the Venues Manager plays a critical role in leading a team to achieve revenue targets and advancing strategic business objectives.

What you will bring to the role

Our Venues Manager leads the venue’s team to provide customer focused services and oversee the implementation of functions, events, and bookings to effectively position Botanic Gardens within the local area and effectively drive venue hire opportunities, and bookable products.

You will prepare and monitor reports, including regular performance reports on bookings and visitors, to accurately track trend data and key revenue streams including entry/visitation .Collect, analyse, and interpret quantitative and qualitative data on bookings to provide statistics and timely reports on trends and undertake a range of financial activities including monitoring and reporting on income and expenditure, processing purchase orders and invoice requests,  issuing receipts, and providing input to the review of fees and charges to contribute to the preparation and management of the unit’s budget.

Your day to day will consist of managing a diverse group of staff, licensees and external stakeholders regarding weekly bookings and events schedules to ensure that necessary services are provided, and good relations are maintained between all. This includes managing, monitoring and reviewing the commercial catering agreements and ensuring compliance with policies, practices, systems and corporate management strategies.

What is an essential requirement

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or demonstrated experience
  • Current Australian Driver’s Licence and willingness to travel
  • Ability to work and/or be contactable outside of normal work hours, during holiday periods and on weekends
