The Assurance and Biodiversity Stewardship Branch is seeking a Principal Project Officer, Content and Training. The Principal Project Officer role will develop and support the implementation of programs and projects covering diverse and strategic environmental initiatives across NSW, specifically content management and training support for the Biodiversity Offset Scheme.
The role involves maintaining currency of training content and support the trainers in delivering training courses directed at the Biodiversity Assessment Method (BAM). The role delivers functions as part of the Accredited Assessor scheme under the Biodiversity Offset Scheme (BOS).The position will liaise and work with a diverse range of stakeholders and systems within the department, as well as external consultants and local government.
About You
The Principal Project Officer Content and Training - you will have experience in managing projects and allocating resources independently within set parameters. You will also have experience in working in a multi-disciplinary project team and contributing to development of technical capacity in the group. The role will be the project lead in the management of the training content for Accredited Assessors in applying the BAM (key participants in the BOS Scheme). You will need to develop new content involving the interpretation of emerging strategic and technical operational policy. The successful candidate will need to be confident to deliver training, predominantly on-line, including environmental legislation and technical content of pre-existing training.
The role’s focus is on the design and implement of the training programs in relation to the accreditation scheme including participant communication, session logistics, course preparation and delivery, assessment task marking and management, and managing feedback across a broad audience. Experience or knowledge of the use of a Learning Management System is highly desirable
You will have an understanding of the role and function of Government with respect to biodiversity conservation policy and legislation and demonstrate the ability to understand and work with technical and scientific information in the context of environmental programs including operational policy and program development. An understanding of the Biodiversity Offsets Scheme and Biodiversity Assessment Method including the use of BOAMS and BAM-C is highly desirable.
Key knowledge and experience
- Understanding of the Biodiversity Offsets Scheme and Biodiversity Assessment Method including the use of BOAMS and BAM-C.
- Understanding of the role and function of Government with respect to biodiversity conservation policy and legislation.
- Extensive experience in planning, implementing, and managing complex projects to achieve priority objectives
- Experience is collaborating across different parts of the department to manage complex projects
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in adult education and an appropriate training qualification such as a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or equivalent would be desirable
