  • Salary relative to experience and ranges from $145,378.00 to $168,130.00 plus super

The role  

As Principal DevOps Lead, you’ll be at the forefront of driving technical leadership and innovation in cloud infrastructure and service deployment. Your role is all about ensuring seamless technology-based services—designing, upgrading, and managing operations while maintaining the integrity of core public cloud hosted systems. You’ll evaluate new solutions, oversee installations and decommissioning, and provide strategic advice on cloud technologies, specifically Azure and/or AWS cloud security posture to keep the organisation ahead of the curve. 

Balancing immediate support requests with long-term service improvements will be key. You’ll need to sustain existing services while integrating new initiatives in a dynamic, complex environment. Prioritising tasks to meet business deadlines and SLAs is crucial, ensuring hosting systems run smoothly while proactively resolving potential service issues before they escalate.

What you will bring to the role  

  • Strong problem-solving abilities to navigate complex challenges and adapt to evolving situations. 

  • Proven leadership qualities, including the ability to motivate and inspire others to achieve shared goals. 

  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, with a willingness to contribute to group efforts and support colleagues in achieving objectives. 

  • Enjoys autonomy and demonstrates proficiency in working independently, taking initiative, and making decisions. 

  • Deep technical expertise in software deployment and cloud solutions, ensuring best practices are implemented efficiently. 

  • Ability to balance immediate troubleshooting with strategic planning to drive continuous improvement in operations. 

  • Clear and decisive communication that simplifies complex technical concepts for diverse stakeholders. 

 

Key knowledge and experience 

  • Extensive experience working in highly technical ICT environments with a focus on cloud hosting, security, and/or software engineering. 

  • Experience leading a team to develop and deliver cloud solutions for customer compute and ICT storage problems in a cost constrained environment. 

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills proven in project delivery in a busy workplace. 

  • At least 5 years plus of experience in either AWS or Azure public cloud, preferably both. 

  • Experience in mitigating cyber security risk in cloud hosted platforms. 

 

Essential requirements

  • Relevant experience or tertiary qualification in computer science or related field and/or recognised industry certifications.
