The South-West Environmental Water and Floodplain team is currently seeking to appoint a Senior Project Officer to lead and deliver the NSW Science and Monitoring component of the ‘Restoring the upper Murrumbidgee River Program’ (the Program).The Program, which will be delivered by NSW in collaboration with the ACT and is funded by the Australian Government, and is guided by the Commonwealth’s ‘Strategy to improve the health of the Upper Murrumbidgee’.The Science and Monitoring component of the Program aims to improve our understanding of the health of the upper Murrumbidgee River and be able to monitor the effectiveness of on-ground actions to inform future management decisions and investment. 

The Senior Project Officer role will be responsible for management, procurement and implementation of projects; as well as contribute to elements of the Program’s evaluation and reporting. The role requires to work collaboratively with project partners including Local Land Service and the ACT and Commonwealth governments. To implement the Program, the role will also need engagement with First Nations, community and industry.  The role will also be responsible for internal communications and reporting on the Project and provide updates for Executive staff.

The role will operate within the South-West Environmental Water and Floodplain team which is responsible for the management of environmental water in the south-west of NSW, including the Snowy and montane rivers.  This geographically disperse team is comprised of dedicated, passionate people who want to leave positive legacies for our rivers, floodplains and wetlands, their biota and human communities.

 

About You

To be successful, you will have:

  • Demonstrative knowledge and experience at complex and multi-disciplined project management,
  • Experience and knowledge in project procurement, project design and implementation of science and monitoring programs for water and river conservation, including the hydrology and/or ecology of rivers, floodplains and wetlands.
  • Have excellent communication and organisation abilities, with a demonstrated track record of engaging and collaborating across diverse stakeholder groups and being able to communicate to a wide range of audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to be highly self-motivated, organised, work effectively autonomously whilst also in a geographically dispersed team environment.

 

Essential requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in relevant discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Have a current NSW Class C Drivers Licence.
