Senior Environmental Planning & Assessment Officer – Talent Pool

The EPA are building talent pools for our most highly recruited roles for future opportunities within our agency. We are looking for passionate and talented individuals to apply for our Senior Environmental Planning & Assessment Officer roles within our Strategy and Policy Division.

About You

You will be an outcome focused passionate advocate for the EPA who possesses strong strategic thinking skills and a genuine passion for delving into regulatory best practices. Your role will involve identifying how the NSW EPA can best protect the environment and promote human health. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Demonstrated understanding and experience in land use planning, development assessment or environmental legislation, with an ability to contribute expertise to relevant planning processes.
  • Experience in policy analysis and/or working with technical advice, with the capacity to identify, develop and analyse options.
  • Experience in relation to protecting the environment, with an understanding of the workings of government at a state and local level.
  • High level communication skills, including in complex negotiations and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

About the Team

Strategy and Policy Division:

  • Leads the EPA's strategic and regulatory policy functions for all issues that fall within the EPA's remit, including air, water, noise, forests, contaminated land, waste, chemicals, dangerous goods, gas, pesticides and radiation
  • Collaborates across governments, communities and Aboriginal People to identify emerging issues and to influence and deliver leading edge policy solutions to improve environmental and human health outcomes for the people of NSW.
  • Provides financial and funding management oversight and management for all EPA.
  • Supports the EPA to be an inclusive organisation that has trusted and meaningful relationships with Aboriginal people.
