  • Salary relative to experience and ranges from $120,701 to $134,460 + Super

 

DCCEEW is currently seeking to appoint a Senior Policy Officer to join the Policy and Reform team in the Biodiversity Offsets and Planning branch.

 

About the role

As a Senior Policy Officer in the Biodiversity Offsets and Planning Branch at DCCEEW, you will play a key role in developing and refining policy settings that underpin the operation and reform of the NSW Biodiversity Offsets Scheme. You will contribute to the design, development and delivery of evidence-based policy advice, lead and coordinate projects, undertake research and analysis, and engage with stakeholders across government, industry and the community.

 

About You

You are a strategic thinker with a strong understanding of government policy processes and a commitment to evidence-based decision making. With experience providing high-level advice on complex policy issues, you excel at developing innovative solutions that balance environmental, social, and economic considerations. You are skilled at translating complex information into clear, actionable policy recommendations and thrive in collaborative environments, engaging effectively with stakeholders to shape meaningful outcomes. Your proactive approach, analytical mindset, and dedication to public value align strongly with the Department’s vision for thriving communities and sustainable environments.

 

Key knowledge and experience

  • Demonstrated experience in policy development and legislative reform processes and strong understanding of the machinery of Government
  • Experience providing support and advice to senior executives.
  • Familiarity with the Biodiversity Offsets Scheme and the NSW planning system is desirable.

Essential requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and/or equivalent experience.
