About the role

 As the Executive Officer and Team Leader Executive Support you will coordinate the provision of high level executive and secretariat support services to the Executive Director, Science and Insights Division. You will provide strategic advice to the Senior Leadership Team, facilitate key projects, and provide oversight of communications to support the delivery of the Division’s objectives.

 

About You

 We are seeking an experienced government professional, who is familiar with Ministerial processes and working in time sensitive, demanding roles. The ideal candidate will have the ability to resolve complex issues, using their initiative to manage priorities and risks in line with strategic objectives. You will have excellent communication skills and the capacity to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.

Key accountabilities:

  • Implement, monitor and report on strategic projects to inform decision making and support achievement of Executive and Divisional objectives.
  • Work collaboratively across the division and DCCEEW to develop and maintain productive networks to provide high quality, relevant and timely input and responses.
  • Implement mechanisms for improving the Division’s performance and develop related measures and targets, to support divisional planning.
  • Ensure excellence in quality, accuracy, timeliness and reliability of information flowing to and from the Executive Director’s office. This includes oversighting the drafting, review and/or editing of reports, submissions, briefings and Ministerial and Parliamentary correspondence submitted to the Executive Director.
  • Contribute to the delivery of cultural and organisational change, including working with directors, senior leaders and staff to ensure a smooth transition in line with corporate and business objectives.
  • Facilitate Science and Insights Division’s Senior Leadership Team meetings to ensure efficient and effective delivery of agreed activities.
  • Manage the Executive Support team and supervise staff to deliver high quality executive and Ministerial support services for the Division; develop staff professionally to meet agreed performance standards.

 

Essential requirements and experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications and/or relevant experience providing executive and business support at a senior level, including superior writing and project management skills.
