The role 

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Manager Financial Accounting Operations to lead a high-performing finance function that underpins the integrity of our financial systems and reporting, as we transition from the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure (DPHI) to the Department of Customer Service (DCS) in July 2025.  

 

In this key leadership role, you will oversee the integrity of financial transactions within our reporting system, manage reconciliations to the general ledger and ensure compliance with internal controls and financial policies.   

You’ll act as the main link between Finance Shared Services, Financial Reporting teams and clients, while also coordinating system upgrades, incident testing, and manage audit requests and recommendations.  

  

As a people-focused leader, you’ll be responsible for managing the day-to-day team operations, planning and prioritising workloads, and fostering a collaborative and adaptable work environment. Your expertise in financial governance, internal controls, and stakeholder engagement will play a vital role in strengthening our financial operations and supporting strategic objectives across the department. What you will bring to the role  

  • Demonstrated expertise in maintaining the integrity of general ledger reconciliations, with a strong commitment to compliance and adherence to financial policies and procedures. 

  • In-depth knowledge of financial operations, including planning, forecasting, and budget management, with a focus on continuous improvement. 

  • Exceptional interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships across a range of internal and external partners. 

  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities to address financial issues and implement practical, effective solutions. 

  • Sound judgement and the ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy, ensuring the delivery of accurate, high-quality financial advice and reporting. 

  • Proven leadership skills, with the ability to inspire, mentor, and develop team members to foster a high-performing, collaborative work environment. 

 

Key Knowledge and experience 

Significant experience in accounting within a complex organisation 

 

Essential requirements 

Degree Qualification in Business or Commerce (Accounting)
