About the role
National Parks and Wildlife Service has a unique opportunity for a Senior Project Officer to work as part of the Greater Sydney team and contribute towards the conservation of the natural environment, flora, fauna and Aboriginal heritage.
We are looking for highly motivated individuals with the initiative, ability, and desire to work in small, dynamic, and productive team in either the Bobbin Head Office, Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park or Audley Office, Royal National Park. Previous achievement in delivering infrastructure or construction projects within a natural resource setting or those with remote area logistic challenges will be highly regarded. An understanding of environmental impact assessment processes and some public sector knowledge would be desirable.
About You
As a Senior Project Officer, you will be responsible for planning, approvals, stakeholder engagement, procurement, budget management, contract and staff supervision and delivering capital improvement works within required deadlines and to quality standards. Strong attention to detail for governance across safety, cultural heritage, environment and project management will be key to your success in this role.
You'll be adept in providing high level specialist advice and information to stakeholders on emerging project issues and to support project development and delivery in line with established plans, budgets, timeframes, policy environmental objectives and project priorities.
You will have the ability to undertake procurement and contract management, including contractor supervision of works projects.
Essential Requirements
- Appropriate tertiary qualifications or demonstrated equivalent, relevant professional experience.
- Project management skills and experience with an understanding of contemporary best practice in procurement, tendering and contract preparation, in managing project teams, consultants and contractors, and in applying environmental safety and risk management policies and systems.
- Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing and reviewing strategic plans, policies and programs, and in providing strategic and operational advice and recommendations to senior management.
