About the role
The NSW government’s Coastal and Marine Science team delivers fundamental data and evidence-based science to improve the management of the NSW coastal and marine environments. Our work includes state-wide and regional strategic assessments aimed at understanding key risks, hazards and threats to the NSW aquatic environment as well as the provision of improved data and tools to underpin management actions.
Our Coastal and Marine Science program delivers exciting and critically important science that:
- addresses key threats and risks to the NSW marine estate
- provides greater understanding of seabed habitats; past, present and future wave conditions; and coastal geomorphology and sediment transport processes
- measures marine debris and microplastic densities in waterways and catchments to drive evidence based policies and measure the impacts of management actions
- provides data to support Coastal Management Programs and coastal hazard and risk management decisions
- contributes to State of the Environment reporting and pollution incident responses
As the Senior Team Leader you will be part of a supportive leadership team within the Water Wetlands and Coastal Science Branch. You will be committed to working collaboratively with a geographically dispersed project team to deliver customer-focused results from technical or scientific projects and to consistently deliver high quality data and advice.
As Senior Team Leader, you will;
- Coordinate and manage project development, implementation and delivery, including preparing project plans, identifying and coordinating resources, developing and managing budgets and delivering reports to a high standard.
- Provide the highest standards of open communication, collaboration, data and knowledge management in accordance with department policies.
- Guide and oversee stakeholder and community engagement activities to foster co-design on project outcomes and deliverables
- Provide expert advice and support to the Science and Insights Division on the development, implementation, management and reporting of scientific projects, ensuring that technical and scientific considerations are properly considered by the Division.
About You
You will have:
- Extensive experience in developing and leading rigorous science programs
- Stakeholder recognition of expertise in estuarine and catchment science programs
- Demonstrated ability to lead a flexible, multi-disciplinary team maximising opportunities for collaboration and delivering customer focussed results from science programs.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and foster relationships with within your team and with peers including those in government agencies, and external clients and collaborators to deliver science programs.
