Two key roles leading and managing highly committed and cohesive teams implementing park management programs across a variety of national parks and reserves in the Riverina and Lower Darling regions.
About the roles
NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) manages over 50 national parks and reserves in the Riverina and Lower Darling regions. Including Cocoparra, Kalyarr, Mungo, Murray Valley, Murrumbidgee Valley, Oolambeyan, Willandra, and Yanga National Parks.
The Murray-Riverina region is full of adventure and activity for all ages, such as camping, fishing, picnicking and boating and includes large stands of River Red Gums.
The Lower Darling region boasts the magnificent lunette “Walls of China” in Mungo National Park and other dry lakes in the World Heritage listed Willandra Lakes Region.
Both Areas are involved in managing water resources, including flows that support significant vegetation communities and threatened and protected species. Both Areas include numerous important Aboriginal cultural heritage sites and require skills in Aboriginal community engagement and cultural heritage management including joint management.
The Area Managers are relied upon to lead large teams and work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders across national parks and reserves to implement and deliver critical park management programs, visitor services and infrastructure management and translate strategies into operational outcomes for the NSW Government. - systems management
About you
We are looking for highly experienced, strategic, relatable leaders with a strong collaborative nature and operational acumen, to successfully lead a large team, including field staff, rangers, project, and administration staff who work across different locations. You will be a highly skilled communicator, who can effectively lead change and deliver high performance. You will have previous management experience, leading a multidisciplinary team within a protected area system environment or related field with a focus on leadership and service delivery and effectiveness.
Essential Requirements
- Extensive experience managing diverse, dispersed and multi-disciplinary teams in a dynamic and changing environment.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and deliver a diverse range of park management operations and visitor services aligned to strategic organisational outcomes and competence in incident management planning and control.
