  • Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $125,693.00 to $138,510.00 + super (Clerk Grade 9/10)

The Natural Resources Access Regulator (NRAR), the state’s water regulator, is currently seeking to appoint a Program Lead to manage and monitor complex and/or sensitive compliance projects to deliver regulatory outcomes and maintain public confidence in the water management regulatory system. This includes coordinating inspections, overseeing investigations and developing and delivering programs to contribute to improved voluntary compliance.

NRAR enforces the NSW water laws and offers guidance and education to help water users comply. We strive to be an efficient and effective regulator that celebrates and reflects the diversity of the community we serve. Working with NRAR provides a chance to make sure water is used lawfully so that all communities and the environment get a fair share.

About You

We are seeking an individual who can achieve the following:

  • Lead a geographically dispersed team of regulatory professionals with diverse skillsets, fostering the development of a problem-solving and outcomes-focused culture.
  • Coordinate multiple compliance improvement programs, projects and initiatives that address regulatory problems by improving voluntary compliance.
  • Provide guidance and appropriate feedback to a team in the form of case review and decision-making for appropriate enforcement action including warning letters, penalty notices and referral for prosecution as necessary.
  • Provide leadership and support for the ongoing professional development of staff to deliver on responsibilities and achieve outcomes.
  • Ability to achieve and maintain Authorised Officer status (pursuant to section 390(1) of the Water Management Act 2000)

Essential Requirements

  • Appointment is subject to the successful applicant satisfactorily passing the criminal record check.
  • Hold a current NSW Driver's Licence and a willingness to drive to remote locations which may include overnight stays.
