The role
As Group Senior Manager, Finance at Value NSW, you’ll shape the financial direction of an organisation that delivers critical valuation services for the Valuer General as well as Local and State Government. Working closely with the CEO, you’ll be the lead financial advisor for the agency and the driving force behind the agencies long term financial innovation, compliance and sustainability.
This role will have you play a central role in forecasting, reporting, and risk management—liaising with NSW Treasury, TCorp, and other key stakeholders to ensure financial sustainability. From managing cash flow and financial controls to supporting submissions to regulatory bodies like IPART, your expertise will keep operations running smoothly and strategically. This is your opportunity to influence outcomes that matter, uplift financial capability across the organisation, and lead a high-performing team in a dynamic and purpose-driven environment.
What you will bring to the role
- Proven ability to deliver strategic financial insights that support executive decision-making and long-term planning.
- Deep understanding of financial legislation and standards, including the Government Sector Finance Act 2018, Treasurer’s Directions, IPART requirements and Australian Accounting Standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of navigating complex financial challenges and developing innovative, practical solutions.
- Exceptional communication skills, capable of translating complex financial information into clear, actionable advice for diverse stakeholders.
- Collaborative leadership style, with experience in building capability, mentoring teams, and fostering cross-functional partnerships.
What is an essential requirement:
- Tertiary qualification in finance, economics or related discipline.
- Current NSW Driver’s Licence and the ability and willingness to travel for work.

About Us
The Valuer General is an independent statutory officer, appointed by the Governor of New South Wales to oversee the State's land valuation system.
Value NSW (VNSW), part of the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure, delivers the valuation system for rating and taxing as well as compulsory acquisition compensation purposes via delegation of the Valuer General of NSW. This includes but is not limited to:
- Making more than 2.7 million residential, rural, commercial and industrial valuations annually, with a total value of approximately $3 trillion as well as managing compulsory acquisition determinations in situations where government cannot reach agreement, totalling over $1 billion per annum
- Delivering customer services and experience for 2.7 million landholders per annum – receiving up to 50,000 calls and many more enquiries
- Monitoring, assurance and governance pertaining to the quality of the valuations undertaken relevant to both the Valuation of Land Act 1916 and the Land Acquisition (Just Terms Compensation) Act 1991.
In addition, VNSW provides other specialised valuation activities, services and determinations for other cluster or statewide government partners – including being responsible for the delivery of all valuations for government property transactions as defined by the Government Property Framework and Treasurer’s Directions as well as more than $84 billion in government asset valuations for financial accounting purposes.
