About us
Placemaking NSW is responsible for managing and caring for some of Sydney’s most iconic harbourside venues and locations, including The Rocks, Barangaroo, Darling Harbour and White Bay Power Station. We also lead the planning and delivery of the Bays West Urban Renewal Precinct, a state significant project that will bring new homes, jobs, and public spaces to 77 hectares of government-owned land just 2 kilometres from Sydney's CBD. 

The role
We’re looking for someone who knows events inside out—from live music in the park to private functions in unique venues. You’ll be the go-to for matching the right events to the right spaces, helping clients navigate requirements and ensuring every activation adds vibrancy and value to our precincts. You’ll work closely with stakeholders to deliver high-profile events that bring people together and boost the city’s energy.

This role is all about connection and impact. You’ll manage venue sales and client relationships, advise on event planning and compliance, and help secure events that drive visitation and economic benefit. It’s fast-paced, people-focused, and perfect for someone who thrives under pressure and loves solving problems collaboratively

What you will bring to the role

  • Operational experience in managing high-profile and diverse events, including outdoor public and private functions
  • Strong account management skills with the ability to match events to suitable spaces and precinct goals
  • Understanding of precinct activation and its economic impact on tenants and partners
  • Resilience and composure in high-pressure environments
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills to engage varied stakeholders
  • Ability to influence, negotiate, and manage projects from planning to delivery
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality, client-focused outcomes
  • Familiarity with licensing, compliance, and strong administrative coordination for event operations
