About the role
National Parks and Wildlife Service has two opportunities for a Project Officer to work in an NPWS Greater Sydney Branch infrastructure delivery team.
The NPWS Greater Sydney Branch leads implementation of a range of programs across more than 50 National Parks and reserves including Royal National Park, the second oldest national park in the world, and Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, the second oldest national park in Australia. Our parks host more than 19 million visits each year and we are delivering a major program to improve visitor infrastructure in key visitor precincts and enhance heritage buildings and places, many of which are listed on the NSW State Heritage Register and/or the National Heritage List.
We are looking for highly motivated individuals with the initiative, ability, and desire to work in small, dynamic, and productive team. Previous achievement in delivering infrastructure or construction projects within a natural of cultural landscape will be highly regarded. An understanding of procurement and contract management would be desirable.
About you
As a Project Officer you will contribute to the development, delivery and review of projects within the team; managing the delivery of environment impact assessments, oversee the day-to-day operations of individual projects and where directed, supervise assigned staff and contractors. You will liaise with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure the smooth delivery of projects, including monitoring and reporting of project budgets, resource requirements, stakeholder engagement, contract administration, and procurement.
Your passion for your community and environment, coupled with a strong attention to detail and adept proficiency in project management will be key to your success in this role. You'll be adept in providing high level specialist advice and information to stakeholders on emerging project issues and to support project development and delivery in line with established plans, budgets, timeframes, policy and environmental objectives and other project and priorities.
Essential requirements
- Appropriate tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent relevant working experience in project management.
- Experience in development and delivery of projects, including the development of project plans, monitoring of project timelines, budgets and reporting requirements, and contract administration.
- Detailed knowledge and experience in the delivery of sealed and unsealed road maintenance and construction works.
