Our Governance & Risk branch is currently seeking to appoint a Senior Officer, Information Access and Privacy to be part of the team leading the department’s commitment to privacy principles and public information access.
The Senior Information Access and Privacy Officer provides specialist advice and support to the department and network of agencies on complex and sensitive information access and privacy issues. You will make decisions on applications for access to information under the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 (GIPA Act) and provide advice and respond to breaches and complaints under the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998.
In your role you will undertake the review and processing of applications under the GIPA Act, responding to varied requests for information. You will provide advice and assistance across the department to ensure compliance with the agency’s privacy responsibilities and open access requirements. You will also assist with the delivery of training to ensure staff are aware of their information access and privacy obligations and contribute to continuous improvement projects.
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong working knowledge and experience in the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009, the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 and the Health Records and Information Privacy Act 2002.
You will have demonstrated high level analytical and problem-solving skills including the ability to provide authoritative advice and recommendations across a large and complex organisation. Your exceptional stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills will be critical as you collaborate with internal and external stakeholders at all levels. You will be proactive with advanced organisational skills and ability to take on feedback and direction, as well as being able to work autonomously to ensure the delivery of objectives against critical deadlines.
