Casual opportunities for Outdoor Recreational Instructor(Program Officers) to join our team and make a significant impact! 

  • Deliver programs to a variety of sport, community, and school groups
  • Daily rates start from $326.05 up to $477.30 plus super (plus allowances for night duty)
  • Casual opportunity based at Sydney Academy of Sport

About the role 

The Program Officer is responsible for planning and delivering outdoor education and recreation programs for a variety of sport, community and school groups. You will be responsible for the effective coordination of all program components, incl. ensuring program design and delivery are in line with current trends and operating standards in the sport and active recreation sector. You will also ensure all programs meet the requirements of the Children and Young Persons (Care and Protection) Act 1998.  

You will be responsible for safely managing any incidents and emergency situations that may occur during the program and also be required to undertake on-call responsibilities on a rostered basis during residential programs.

About you 

  • Program Delivery Expertise: Demonstrated experience in planning and delivering educational and recreational programs for sport, community, and school groups.
  • Risk Management & Safety: Strong understanding of safety protocols and standard operating procedures, with the ability to proactively identify and mitigate risks in program delivery.
  • Client-Centered Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling tailored service delivery to meet the diverse needs of clients.
  • Collaborative Approach: Proven ability to work across teams to enhance outcomes and ensure a positive customer experience.

Essential Requirements

Tertiary level qualifications in a relevant field or a Certificate IV in Outdoor Recreation/Leadership and relevant industry experience is essential to success in this role. 

You will need to be First aid and CPR qualified and arrange a Working with Children Check (WWCC at your own expense.)

To be eligible to apply for this position, you must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or permanent resident or hold a valid Australian working Visa for the duration of the appointment. Any offer of employment will be subject to a satisfactory National Police Check and Pre-Employment Health Assessment.
