  • Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $183,848 to $208,267 + superannuation

 Are you ready to shape the future of ICT architecture at DCCEEW? As our Chief Architect, you’ll be at the forefront of designing and implementing innovative systems, solutions, and infrastructure that align with our strategic vision.

About the Role

This is a high-impact leadership role where you’ll drive enterprise-wide architecture initiatives, foster collaboration between business and IT leaders, and champion a co-design approach to deliver robust, secure, and future-ready technology frameworks.

You’ll provide expert guidance on strategic planning, lead the development of enterprise architecture standards, and represent DCCEEW in key architecture communities across NSW Government. If you're passionate about driving transformation, influencing technology direction, and embedding best practices in architecture and secure-by-design frameworks—this is your opportunity to make a lasting impact.

About You

To thrive in this pivotal role, the Chief Architect will bring a blend of strategic vision, technical expertise, and leadership capability. You’ll be a forward-thinking problem solver who can balance innovation with practicality and confidently guide enterprise-wide architecture initiatives in a dynamic, multi-stakeholder environment.

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Strategic Architecture Expertise: Proven ability to design and implement high-level capability and technology architectures, roadmaps, and business-aligned delivery plans.
  • Enterprise Architecture Leadership: Experience developing and maintaining reference architectures, standards, patterns, and repositories that support scalable and sustainable ICT solutions.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Strong relationship-building skills to collaborate across divisions, clusters, and NSW Government communities of practice, ensuring alignment and consistency in technology direction.
  • Governance & Agile Delivery: Demonstrated success in establishing architecture governance frameworks and working practices that support iterative and agile environments.
  • Secure-by-Design & SDLC Knowledge: Deep understanding of software development lifecycle principles and secure-by-design methodologies, with the ability to embed these into enterprise-wide practices.
  • Emerging Technology Awareness: Ability to assess and communicate the impact of emerging technologies, and champion industry-standard architectural delivery methods and modelling standards.
  • Analytical & Conceptual Thinking: Skilled in developing future-state architectural models and views that support strategic evolution and business transformation.
  • Business Acumen & Problem Solving: Capacity to understand business drivers, challenge conventional thinking, and deliver solutions that create value and resolve complex issues across a diverse client base.

Essential Requirements

  • Degree qualification in a relevant discipline and/or equivalent relevant experience
