EnergyCo NSW is spearheading the transition to renewable energy to deliver clean electricity to the people of NSW as coal-fired power stations near closure.
About the Opportunity
The Manager Safety & Assurance plays a pivotal role in shaping and sustaining a robust safety culture across EnergyCo. This position involves providing expert advice and support to ensure the effective development, implementation and assurance of safety policies and procedures. In this role you will also oversee related audit and assurance functions, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and compliance with safety standards. Reporting to the Director Safety and Assurance, you will be responsible for leading specific workstreams and accountabilities, collaborating closely with stakeholders and teams across all major infrastructure projects to deliver effective safety and assurance outcomes.
This role offers a high degree of autonomy within a dynamic work environment Regular regional travel to major infrastructure projects is required, with occasional overnight stays depending on workload demands, but no rostered work patterns. A work vehicle is provided for work-related travel, ensuring convenience and efficiency in fulfilling job responsibilities. This position is ideal for professionals who thrive in independent, multifaceted roles and are passionate about advancing safety excellence in a collaborative setting. This role is not anticipated to have any line reports.
About You
We are seeking a dedicated professional with a proven track record in on-site WHS assurance for similar projects. You bring strong communication, influencing, and negotiation skills, enabling you to build collaborative relationships with key stakeholders, including Electrical Network Operators, construction firms, and regulatory bodies. With demonstrated experience interpreting safety management standards and legislation, you have a solid background in auditing, safety training, and leading WHS consultation bodies, such as consultative committees.
Proficiency in digital tools like Microsoft Excel and Power BI, combined with your audit and inspection expertise, ensures you can effectively manage data and deliver clear, comprehensive reports. Ideally, you will be based in or close to one of the following locations:
- Newcastle – Hunter Valley
- Dubbo
- Greater Sydney

Essential Requirements
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline and/or demonstrated equivalent experience.
- Experience in developing and implementing WHS assurance systems.
- Current Australian Drivers licence (Class C minimum) and willingness to travel.

Who we are?
The Energy Corporation of NSW (EnergyCo) is a statutory corporation established under the Energy and Utilities Administration Act 1987 and governed by its Board, appointed by the Minister for Energy. EnergyCo is a Staff Agency employing all EnergyCo staff and is an agency related to the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW).
EnergyCo plays a pivotal role in the NSW Government’s Electricity Infrastructure Roadmap, which aims to transform the state’s electricity system into one that is cheap, clean, and reliable. As Infrastructure Planner under the Electricity Infrastructure Investment Act 2020, EnergyCo is responsible for leading the delivery of the State’s first five Renewable Energy Zones (REZs) and the first two priority transmission infrastructure projects (PTIPs), which are located in the Central-West Orana, New England, South West, Hunter-Central Coast, and Illawarra regions. We work closely with communities, investors, and industry to investigate, plan, recommend and coordinate generation, storage and network infrastructure projects.
