The Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment & Water (DCCEEW) are looking for a Principal Security Architect to join a dynamic and growing IT team!
About the role
As the Principal Security Architect, you will play an integral role in defining, implementing and continuously improving the Department’s security architecture and practices that enables secure and resilient operations aligned with NSW Government frameworks.
You will translate complex business objectives and risk management strategies into actionable processes enabled by security technologies and services. This includes evaluating new solutions, services, vendors, applications and security tools from a technical perspective and develop security architecture for secure systems that adhere to expected standards and policies.
About you
You will demonstrate:
- Proven experience in developing and implementing security architecture and design.
- Strong understanding of control frameworks such as NIST and Essential Eight, and their effective implementation in complex organisations.
- Comprehensive understanding of ICT and information security architecture trends.
- Experience overseeing the design of security solutions for complex transformation programs.
- Strong understanding of the information security, risk management, governance, business continuity management and business resiliency issues and threats impacting a complex organisation.
- Effective communication skills with ability to translate technical concepts for diverse audiences including executive leadership
- Creativity and innovation to champion adoption of emerging security technologies and bring fresh ideas and approaches to problem-solving and managing risk.
- Strong problem-solving abilities to navigate complex challenges and adapt to evolving situations.
- Proficiency in working independently, taking initiative, and making decisions.
Essential requirements
- Relevant tertiary qualification and professional security certifications/accreditations, including specialist qualifications as an IT security architect.
