  • Environmental Water Management Officer (Environment Officer Class 9)
  • Temporary (30 June 2026) full-time (35 hours per week) opportunity
  • Office location is Queanbeyan - regional location encouraged/Hybrid working supported
  • Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $124,322 to $138,494 + super

 

 

Our Regional Delivery team is currently seeking to appoint an Environmental Water Management Officer to support the development and coordination of water delivery partnerships, manage stakeholder relationships, including with the Commonwealth and provide technical expertise and advice to inform environmental water use decisions.

We are a highly dedicated, passionate and tight knit team that works collectively to deliver positive environmental results on the ground. Key responsibilities of the role will include planning and management of environmental watering events, coordination of monitoring of events and engagement with  a variety of stakeholders.. 

About You

To succeed in this role, you will have proven experience in developing and implementing environmental water programs and/or projects aligned with the Murray-Darling Basin Plan. This includes conducting monitoring, analysis, and outcome reporting, as well as supporting environmental water use decisions and adaptive management through technical advice and evaluation to ensure alignment with ecological objectives.

 

Key knowledge and experience

  • Demonstrated high level knowledge and experience in river and wetland planning and management, including the hydrology and ecology of rivers, floodplains and wetlands.
  • Demonstrated ability to present and explain complex technical information to a non-technical audience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of water, threatened species and biodiversity conservation legislation and policies, including the requirements of the Murray Darling Basin Plan.

Essential requirements

  • A valid Australian driver’s licence.
  • Degree in Ecology, Natural Resource Management or equivalent and/or demonstrated relevant industry experience.
