About the Opportunity

The 1000 NSW Public Sector Apprentices and Trainees Program is offering an exciting 24-month traineeship in Certificate IV in Outdoor Leadership with the Office of Sport. You’ll gain hands-on experience across some of NSW’s most iconic Sport and Recreation Centres.

This unique opportunity blends outdoor program delivery with behind-the-scenes coordination, giving you a well-rounded foundation in leadership, logistics, and people support.

Locations

• Lake Burrendong Sport and Recreation Centre – Mumbil, New South Wales
• Milson Island Sport and Recreation Centre – Brooklyn, NSW
• Point Wolstoncroft Sport and Recreation Centre – Lake Macquarie, NSW
• Sydney Academy of Sport – Narrabeen, NSW
• Borambola Sport and Recreation Centre – Borambola, NSW

Regular travel within NSW is required for training and assessment. If you love a good road trip and exploring new places, this role is perfect for you!

What You’ll Do – Role Description

• Assist with outdoor recreation activities including archery, canoeing, biking, bushwalking, abseiling, and rock climbing

• Help with meal service, dishwashing, and general dining hall supervision
• Support client programs by managing logistics like transport, free time, and first aid
• Handle client enquiries and provide on-site assistance during activities
• Work collaboratively as part of a team to ensure smooth program delivery
