  • Two Permanent Project Engineer opportunities
  • Full-time at 35 hours per week plus FlexTime
  • Based at Manly Hydraulic Laboratory, Manly Vale
  • Salary relative to experience and ranges from $79,784 to $119,673 plus super

 

Our Manly Hydraulic Laboratory’s Flood and Coastal team are seeking to appoint two Project Engineers to undertake and coordinate a range of professional coastal and hydraulic engineering investigations to support Manly Hydraulic Laboratory’s suite of projects and services, under the guidance of senior staff.

In addition, the role undertakes and contributes to oceanic, coastal, estuarine, riverine, water, wastewater, water quality, stormwater and flood systems engineering projects and/or participate in larger engineering/environmental data monitoring/water infrastructure projects (such as dams, spillways and breakwaters) to achieve project objectives and deliver high quality and innovative client outcomes.

Please note travel to regional areas including overnight stays may occasionally be required.

You are logical-minded and a quick learner with a passion for water engineering and who enjoys facing challenging projects and is always looking for better ways to innovatively and efficiently solve complex problems.

Your adaptability, attention to detail, and drive for continuous improvement make you a valuable contributor to a collaborative team.

You are a highly organised and client-focused professional engineer who thrives in dynamic environments. With a proven ability to deliver multiple outcomes concurrently, you consistently meet expectations around timeframes, quality standards, and budget constraints. Your commitment to exceptional client service is evident in your ability to manage competing priorities without compromising on results.

You are proactive about your growth, seeking out training and development opportunities to expand your skills in various fields (e.g., GIS, coding, data analysis, etc.) and apply sound professional judgement to increasingly complex tasks and deliver clear, thorough reports and documentation for senior staff and clients.

As this role requires you to undertake and coordinate a range of professional coastal and water engineering investigations, you will be expected to work in environments surrounded by or nearby water, and ability to swim would therefore be encouraged.

 

Essential Requirements 

  • A professional engineering or environmental science degree with relevant experience, or other relevant qualifications.
  • A valid NSW Driver’s License and willingness to travel to remote locations, including overnight stay.

Manly Hydraulics Laboratory (MHL) is a business unit within the Water Group of the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water, that provides specialist and impartial advice relating to coastal and water engineering and water flow assurance, utilising physical and numerical modelling, NATA accredited facilities and extensive data collection programs in water, sewer, stormwater, irrigation, coastal, riverine and environmental systems.
