- Permanent full-time role at 35 hours per week plus FlexTime

The Natural Resource Access Regulator (NRAR) enforces the NSW water laws and offers guidance and education to help water users comply. NRAR’s Projects and Performance team is currently seeking to appoint a Senior Data Scientist to analyse large, complex datasets, to generate actionable insights that inform strategic and operational decision-making.
Using advanced techniques including artificial intelligence, machine learning, and programmatic logic, the Senior Data Scientist designs and delivers user-friendly Power BI dashboards and KPI reporting tools that communicate key metrics effectively. The role also translates complex data analyses into clear, concise written reports tailored for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
About You
You are a dynamic and detail-oriented professional who thrives in fast-paced environments and can manage shifting priorities and evolving project requirements. Your exceptional time management and adaptability ensure consistent project success, even amidst complexity.
With a strong analytical mindset, you excel at resolving data quality issues through thorough analysis, data profiling, and clear documentation. You collaborate effectively with data engineers and stakeholders to implement solutions that enhance data accuracy and reliability, enabling confident, data-driven decision-making.
Your approach to documentation is meticulous, ensuring processes are well-organised, up-to-date, and consistent across multiple projects. You bring hands-on experience with Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, and databases, and are proficient in Python, SQL, and DAX, allowing you to build robust data models that withstand inconsistencies and deliver meaningful insights.
You understand the importance of business context in identifying data gaps and developing innovative solutions. Your proficiency in Excel and the Microsoft Fabric Suite supports sophisticated analysis, reporting, and the development of operational metrics that influence business performance.
Essential Requirements
- Tertiary qualifications in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems or relevant field or equivalent experience.
