  • Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $129,464 to $142,665 + employer's contribution to superannuation

About the role

National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) have a unique opportunity for a Senior Park Systems Officer to work as part of the Policy and Engagement branch and contribute towards the conservation of the natural environment, flora, fauna and Aboriginal heritage. 

The Senior Park Systems Officer will support the day-to-day use of various spatial tools and projects while also contributing to the Spatial Modernisation project aimed at improving the availability, use and ownership of spatial data and technology within NPWS. You will be required to consult with staff to develop a detailed understanding of their collective spatial requirements. You will also compile and present on options best placed to meet those needs and will be involved in the delivery of staff engagement, change management and training.

 

About You

As Senior Park Systems Officer, you are adept at managing competing priorities and working collaboratively with inter-connected teams and you are familiar with the challenges of end-to-end spatial data management. Ideally, you have exposure to high-volume work within a large complex organisation or similar and have a passion for achieving conservation outcomes in a changing and diverse work environment.  

 

Essential requirements

  • Extensive knowledge and experience of geographical information systems (GIS) and the application and management of spatial tools in an organisational context.
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to provide advice and training in field capture techniques, Esri desktop software, spatial data optimisation and geodatabase management.
  • Sound navigation, cartographic and air photo interpretation skills and the ability to provide advice and coach on the use of spatial systems and tools.
  • A current Australian Drivers Licence and a willingness to fly in small plane/helicopters.
