The role

This role leads a dynamic media and communications team, driving strategies that build trust, strengthen reputation, and connect communities with Greater Sydney Parklands’ initiatives. It’s about shaping how the organisation is seen—through media, stakeholder engagement, and clear, timely communication—especially when the stakes are high or the issues are complex.

 

The challenge lies in balancing diverse stakeholder expectations with government processes, while translating technical detail into clear messages. Whether managing emergency communications, advising on sensitive matters, or crafting compelling content, the role demands strategic thinking, agility, and a deep understanding of the media landscape.

What you will bring to the role

  • Strategic leadership in media, communications and stakeholder engagement, with a focus on reputation and issues management.
  • Strong writing and communication skills, able to simplify complex ideas and connect with diverse audiences.
  • Proven ability to manage sensitive matters and build trusted relationships across government and community.
  • Experience leading high-performing teams and delivering innovative, customer-focused communications.
  • Ability to respond calmly and strategically under pressure, especially during high-stakes or time-sensitive situations.
  • Commitment to integrity, collaboration, and delivering communications that reflect community values and government priorities.
