Utilise your technical operation experience in the water sector to contribute to sustainable water management for the environment and communities of NSW

 

  • Two permanent full-time roles at 35 hours per week plus FlexTime
  • Located in Sydney, Tamworth, Maitland, Newcastle or other NSW DCCEEW office location by negotiation
  • Hybrid working supported
  • Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $113,574 to $125,720 + super

 

Our Operational Technology and Design team are seeking to appoint two Technical Officers to join their specialist team responsible for developing, operating and improving the technical equipment, systems and operating standards (being NRAR’s ‘operational technologies’) that NRAR use to collect data (evidence) in the field and to process it.

Technical Officers work closely with frontline teams and investigators in the field, undertake administrative tasks as directed, and provide advice and recommendations to management to support the delivery of future technology projects.

 

About You

You possess practical experience or familiarity with technologies and equipment relevant to water regulation, such as hydrometric instrumentation, extraction metering systems, survey equipment, and process control devices. Your background includes work in water-related domains such as hydrology, hydrometrics, water planning, natural resource management, agriculture, or environmental science, with a demonstrated ability to apply technical knowledge in operational contexts.

You are proficient in delivering technology-based services under constrained timelines and resource limitations, while managing competing priorities. You understand how to assess operational requirements and identify fit-for-purpose technology solutions that align with regulatory objectives.

Your communication skills enable you to translate complex technical concepts into clear, accessible information for non-technical stakeholders. You are capable of balancing field-based data collection and equipment deployment with office-based analysis, reporting, and stakeholder engagement to support the objectives of the Natural Resources Access Regulator (NRAR).

 

Essential Requirements 

  • A current NSW Driver's Licence
  • Ability to travel to remote locations in NSW
  • Willingness to undertake regular travel, including overnight stays in remote locations in NSW
