About the role
Combat Sport Inspectors are responsible for monitoring compliance at combat sport contests and weigh-ins across NSW. They ensure events are held in accordance with the Combat Sports Act 2013, related regulations, and Authority Rules. Combat Sport Inspectors also record contest results and prepare compliance reports.

The role involves making quick, informed decisions in public, high-pressure environments, including stopping contests or removing participants when required. Inspectors must clearly communicate legislative requirements and represent the Combat Sports Authority at events.

About you

You are someone who thrives in dynamic, fast-paced environments and can confidently apply legislation in real-time. You are motivated, detail-oriented, and committed to upholding safety and integrity in combat sports. You communicate clearly, make sound decisions under pressure, and work collaboratively with stakeholders, our ideal candidate will bring to the role:

  • Strong personal motivation and commitment to learning and development.
  • Ability to communicate complex information clearly and respectfully.
  • Analytical thinking to solve problems and make evidence-based decisions.
  • Confidence in giving directions and making decisions in live sporting environments.
  • Understanding of project coordination and risk management.
  • Ethical conduct and resilience in challenging situations.

 

Experience in compliance roles, particularly field based compliance monitoring, within other government departments is highly regarded.

 

Combat sport contests are held all around NSW, applicants from regional areas are encouraged to apply. As the majority of combat sport contests are held on weekends in the evenings, this is when the majority of Combat Sport Inspector’s work is conducted.

 

Essential Requirements

  • Current Class C driver licence

 

To be eligible to apply for this position, you must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or permanent resident or hold a valid Australian working Visa for the duration of the appointment. Any offer of employment will be subject to a satisfactory National Police Check. You will also need to arrange a paid Working with Children Check, at your own expense.
